In a few hours, I am leaving for a weeklong service trip to Panama! I’m not sure how updating will be, but I have at least made a feeble attempt to queue up some comics while I’m gone, even though I’ll admit they’re not my best. But hope you enjoy them nonetheless and regular comics/updates will resume Thursday April 25th.

Ah, that’s better.
I’m glad to say that I have been able to turn down the frenetic pace of my comic drawing without the sky falling. Three times a week has been much more manageable and nobody seems to mind much.
My friends’ continued support and some nice visitors from Reddit have helped Turbo Sloth to reach it’s highest traffic totals over the past two months, with an all-time high of over 28,000 visits and 100,000 pageviews this month! That’s about 10X what I had this same time last year, and is extra motivation for me to keep drawing.
That being said, I lost my tablet pen and am waiting for a new one, so the latest batch may be mouse drawn… just like I used to do. Also, I’ll be going to Panama in 2 ½ weeks and will not have a computer… I’ll see if I can get the comics to post themselves or something. And of course I’ll let you know if I am fortunate to see a sloth, whether it’s Turbo or just the regular type.

Y’all may have realized that I am not actually southern and just like pretending I am… spirit of the Holiday I guess (Daylight Savings Time is the farmers’ fault after all)
February was a good month for Turbo Sloth, with the highest monthly total traffic in our 3 year history! Perhaps every day comics helped that, perhaps it was just a coincidence. But you may have noticed there were only THREE comics this week! Like, what the hell?
If I got paid to do this, I could draw a comic every day. But I don’t! And three a week is much more practical for me than one every day, at the end of the day. Sorry! But it was a fun experiment and I’m surprised I was able to keep it consistently running like that for two and a half months! Rock on, beautiful peoples.
P.S. I may be writing this with a hangover so excuse everything I do that you don’t like.
That’s right… This webcomic was launched Valentine’s Day 2010, and has been running non-stop other than one short hiatus in December 2011 and one longer hiatus in Fall 2012. It’s been fun and a learning process.
Since December 26th comics have been posted every weekday, meaning that I have to draw 5 every week. I am not sure if this is something that will continue, since I’m not sure if I’ll continue to have enough time to pump them out that fast… I currently have a huge backlog but it’s steadily shrinking. Anyway, let me know if any of y’all have ideas for things I can add or change to improve your Turbo Sloth experience!
When I re-booted the site on December 26th, switching to a 5-comic-a-week format (as opposed to the 3-comic-a-week format I had been doing for over 2 1/2 years), I didn’t think I’d be able to draw enough comics to keep it going.
Well now, not only has membership to the (Turbo Sloth facebook fan page) near-doubled from 80 to a WHOPPING 139 members, but I happen to have the biggest comic backlog in Turbo Sloth’s history, with OVER FIFTY comics that I have drawn and NOT YET POSTED! How can you not spontaneously combust from the suspense?!
…Okay, assuming you haven’t yet exploded into a million bite-sized pieces, this is 100% due to the fact that I have been on a very long winter break for the past 5 weeks, so I’m hoping it will be enough to keep me going through my last semester as I get busier. I’ll just try to draw one everyday, and try to make them funny. I’ll keep you posted with how that goes.
Well it’s exciting for me, at least. Turbograndma likes the comic (despite some of my more vile humor) and was willing to pitch in to help me, it sure gives me a little motivation to keep things going. Which I could sure use, being finals weeks and all. In just a few more weeks I’ll have some time to draw more comics, but I’ll try my best to keep some form of semi-regular updates despite the sleep deprivation and delirium that may come with. Cheers!
This is a few weeks late, but it’s worth pointing out that the hiatus of Turbo Sloth is over. It wasn’t too long either… only one month. It’s still gonna be a challenge for me to keep cranking out three comics a week with my extensive schoolwork, but I’ll do what I can. I still am way too broke to advertise, but hopefully enough people see the comics that it will still feel worth the effort. If you like the comics though, please do share them with your friends, coworkers, one night stands, and pet hamsters.
This past week, a Turbo Sloth comic hit the frontpage of Reddit! You can see it right HERE (click the word) Pretty awesome to see! Thanks for everyone who messaged me to let me know, or I may have had no idea! Also, my other comic, Short Attention Span (click the words) will be getting a new much betterer site design, which is also good news!
Do you have any good ideas for features that Turbo Sloth should add? If you do, let me know! I’ll see if I can try to make them a reality and give you credit where credit is due (if you want it). And off I go to get more coffee!
I can’t believe summer’s almost over. Just like everybody else. So honestly not much is really new around here, still posting fresh comics every Monday, Wednesday and Friday!
However, my new collaboration webcomic, Short Attention Span (www.sascomic.com) has gotten off to a pretty good start, and I will have a new comic up there at least once a week! While it doesn’t have a significant impact on Turbo Sloth, it just means that Turbo Sloth will have fewer single panel comics and more multipanels from now on. Multiple panels for the price of one!
Also, it appears that I have run out of funds to advertise for Turbo Sloth, but don’t give me money because I’ll just spend it on booze. If you like the comics though, share it with your friends and/or leave some comments! And with that, off I go to get some more coffee.
That may be something that I have, but it is also the name of the collaboration webcomic that I just launched today! Check it out here: Short Attention SpanI came up with the idea a month ago with Steve from the excellent comic PopStrip, and since we have added five other webcomic artists to join us, and many others to contribute as well!
Short Attention Span (the url is http://www.sascomic.com/) is a single panel comic, that will update EACH AND EVERY DAY. That’s right, you don’t even need to check to see what day of the week it is! Some of the comics will be drawn by me, some will be drawn by our six other webcomickers. We’ll have no restrictions as to how crazy our humor may get, be warned.
While I will be drawing comics for this project separately from Turbo Sloth, I will still be updating regularly for Turbo Sloth. It just means that my Turbo Comics may have more panels as most of my single-panel ideas will probably go to the new site. But that means you get more panel for your buck. Well that is, if it weren’t entirely free, of course. If you have any questions or thoughts on the the new site, leave a comment below!
